FC 26 Patch 1.2.0 Rumors: What EA Must Fix Next

Alright, fellow grinders, let’s talk about the next big update. While EA hasn’t officially dropped the “EA FC 26 Patch 1.2.0” notes yet, the community is absolutely buzzing. Everyone knows another patch is coming – it has to. The game is in its present condition, especially following the most recent Career Mode AI update, and it can be described as, not to put a fine point on it, challenging.

I have been browsing the Reddit threads, the forums, and all the other common areas where the community complains. Depending on all the clamour, this is what every player wants the most in the next FC 26 Patch 1.2.0, and what EA merely needs to do.

The Goalkeeper AI: Our Beloved Glitch-Keepers

This is, without a doubt, the number one complaint. It’s everywhere. Our goalkeepers are an absolute mess. One minute, they’re pulling off “impossible, superhuman” saves from point-blank range, acting like a brick wall. The following, they are carrying in laughably soft shots, at preposterous angles, instead of waving at the ball as they were saying good-bye.

Frankly speaking, it is like they made a bunch of flashy new animations and forgot to give GKs any real brain cells. The main principle of decision-making is totally disrupted. You see them plunge in a shot that is miles apart on a split-second plunge, and then balance on the position to tap in. It is frustrating, and it makes us lose games. Mending our GKs not only improves the game’s quality of life, but also makes it a quality of life at the core of competitive play.

This one hurts, literally; it really hurts. For those of us who always remain active in Career Mode, this bug isn’t just annoying; it’s devastating and also a bit irritating. There’s a growing wave of players reporting that their save files are getting corrupted, wiping out entire careers in a blink. We’re talking dozens — sometimes hundreds — of hours just gone.

And the worst part? There’s no warning. You load up the game like normal, and suddenly your save won’t open. All that scouting, transfers, building up your squad from nothing — vanished.

This isn’t a small issue you can just shrug off. It’s the kind of bug that makes people walk away from the game altogether. What’s the point of sinking that much time and energy into your save if it can just disappear?

After the last Career Mode update, we were promised more depth, smarter AI, and a smoother experience. Instead, it’s being torn apart by a single rogue bug. For a mode built entirely on long-term investment, this is unacceptable. EA needs to fix this immediately,  no excuses.

The “Overtuned” AI: From Predictable to Impossible

Remember when we were all asking for smarter AI in Career Mode? Yeah… maybe we should’ve been more specific. Because now the community’s in full agreement: EA went way too far.

Since the last patch, it feels like every CPU team — no matter their rating — suddenly turned into prime Barcelona. The AI’s “relentless tiki-taka” and “unrealistic speed” have made matches feel like a chore. You’re not facing realistic opponents anymore; you’re facing a perfectly programmed machine that never makes a mistake.

We wanted smarter AI, not omniscient AI. There’s a huge difference. A League Two side shouldn’t be pinging one-touch triangles like they’re in the Champions League final. Rumor has it that the next patch will “tone things down,” and honestly, it can’t come soon enough. Teams need to play to their stats, not some impossible difficulty slider.

The Meta Balance: Finesse Shots & High Depth

Beyond the bugs, there’s also the question of balance. Right now, a few things are dominating the meta, and it’s starting to feel repetitive.

  • Finesse Shot+ PlayStyle: Still too automatic, still too overpowered. You barely need to aim — the ball just bends perfectly every time. It’s satisfying once, sure, but when it keeps happening, it starts to feel cheap. A light nerf to accuracy or power would make things a lot fairer.
  • High-Pressure Tactics (71+ Depth): Let’s be honest — we’ve all been running high 70s depth just to survive. It’s the only real defensive setup that works right now, creating constant pressure that suffocates opponents. The game needs to make other defensive styles, like drop-back or mid-block, actually viable. Give us options. Give us tactical variety.

Ultimate Team Lag: The Ever-Present Elephant

And then there’s the big one, Ultimate Team lag. No matter how many updates EA rolls out, “input delay” and “lag” are still haunting every weekend league session. Especially during peak hours, it feels like your players are running in slow motion while your opponent’s are on fast-forward.

It’s not an easy fix, but at this point, it’s the number one thing holding the mode back. For a mode that’s all about competition, responsiveness and stability aren’t optional — they’re essential.

The Bottom Line

So there it is,  the community’s wishlist in one place. Player switching, AI balance, meta tweaks, and server performance: these aren’t minor gripes. They’re the backbone of the experience.

There’s no official word yet on EA FC 26 Patch 1.2.0, but fans are watching closely. Fingers crossed EA is listening this time, because right now, we’re all just waiting for the patch that finally makes FC 26 feel fair — and fun — again.
