Referring to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2019 that will be held in early August of this year, the football institution has announced that they are building a tournament with a new format that will be part of the FIFA 19 Global Series of EA Sports. This competition would receive the name of eNations Cup and would be oriented to face different national teams from many regions of the world. Thus, 16 teams from the 6 FIFA confederations will be invited: Concacaf, CONMEBOL, CAF, OFC, AFC and UEFA. Each one will be formed by two players that will be previously chosen in a national championship that will be organized in their own country. Being one of the most important tournaments for the eWorld Cup 2019, the winners will receive 1,500 points of the FIFA 19 World Series as well as other cash prizes
This was commented by Luis Vicente, head of the Digital Transformation and Innovation Project at FIFA, in statements that have been collected on the Spanish website:
“After the good reception that the FIFA eClub World Cup has had in recent years, with its characteristic team modality, our goal is to integrate this international tournament into the virtual football calendar.”
To which he added:
“It strengthens the commitment with fans and players from all over the planet and allows our member federations to grow and implement their own virtual football programs.”
This new tournament will be held between 13 and 14 April, being one of the eight most important competitions for the FIFA eWorld Cup and will allow different players around the world to represent their respective nations in an unprecedented tournament in eSports. And, although we still do not know which city will be the venue for the event, since FIFA have promised to provide more information soon. Therefore, we will be attentive to any relevant detail that is revealed in the coming months.
